BlueSky Modular Buildings are based in Sydney – building for construction companies, councils, hire companies across Australia. You’ll find our buildings on site at major infrastructure projects around Australia. We are proud members of prefabAUS.
Can you design stackable or two-storey buildings?
Stackable modules can maximise a limited footprint and offer larger overall floorspace. It’s also worth considering a stackable where the building needs to be raised for technical reasons or to allow for a storage space underneath.
Portable accomodation modules can also be designed to offer on-site accomodation at mining and work sites. The fit out can include bathrooms, wardrobes and kitchenettes to suit the accomodations requirements.
Every building is built around a structural steel frame to Australian Standards. The frame supports the buildings during transport, with internal modules being propped. The buildings are transportable anywhere in Australia.
Portable Buildings
Portable buildings are a fast, cost-effective solution for businesses that need additional space without the delays of traditional construction. Designed for rapid installation, these high quality spaces minimise disruption to your operations while delivering the functionality of a modern building.
Each portable building is manufactured in Sydney and can be delivered across NSW, ACT, and Australia-wide. Built for flexibility, these structures remain a long-term asset that can be relocated, expanded, or adapted as your needs evolve.
Each module is engineered for durability, compliance, and ease of installation across various industries including construction, education, events, and commercial operations.

Are portable buildings durable?
Modern portable buildings are designed for long-term durability, even in demanding environments like construction sites.
Modular construction offers several advantages:
- Strong, weather-resistant structures
- Low maintenance and easy repairs
- Cost-effective compared to traditional builds
- Simple to upgrade or reconfigure over time
Stackable portable buildings maximise usable space while reducing land footprint. Multi-storey modular designs can be installed significantly faster than traditional construction, making them ideal for projects with tight timelines.
Do portable buildings need a DA or building permit ?
To find out if you need a permit for a portable building, please contact your Local Council. Development and Planning Applications are administered by Local Councils regulate the provision of local building and development legislation. In NSW, a construction site office would usually not need special approvals, as long as it wasn’t being used for residential purposes – and was located on a construction site which had development approval. Even still, there are requirements are connections to services such as water, power and sewerage. The requirements may vary – depending on how the portable building will be used. Please see professional advice that is relevant to your circumstances as this is a guide only. Please be aware that the approvals needed may be different for any buildings being used as dwellings, as opposed to offices, ablutions etc.
